Always use the right equipment for the tree removal job. This includes chainsaws, safety glasses, gloves, sturdy boots, and helmets. Make sure your equipment is in good working order before you start.

Follow proper felling and grinding techniques during the tree removal. For example, when felling a tree, make a notch cut on the side facing the direction you want the tree to fall. Then make the felling cut on the opposite side.

Before you start, plan your tree removal work, please plan carefully. Identify any potential hazards, such as overhead power lines or nearby buildings. Determine the direction you want the tree to fall, and clear a safe escape path.

Be aware of kickback, which is when the chainsaw suddenly jerks back towards you. To prevent kickback during the tree removal work, avoid cutting with the tip of the chainsaw.

When felling a tree, make sure everyone else is at a safe distance. A good rule of thumb is to keep at least two tree lengths away from the falling tree.

Stump grinding can be dangerous if not done correctly. Make sure the area is clear of people and pets before you start. Wear protective clothing, and keep your hands and feet away from the grinding wheel.
